EZ Rocks launches new designs

Leading decorative stones maker EZ Rocks recently unveiled its newest stone colors and profiles as part of its expanding its product offerings to architects, developers, designers, landscape artists and home owners.

Dubbed the “Quick Fit” series, the new stone profiles are inspired by American and European country homes which are fast gaining public acceptance in the Philippines.

These are Amazon Rain Forest, Caramel, French Country, Good Earth, Lemon Tree, Red Rockies, Sun Showder and Red Cranberry.

“The Quick Fit stone series is created individually by using a special combination of mineral oxide pigments, Portland cement, light weight natural aggregates and other high-grade additives,” says Hector Reyes, president of EZ Rocks.

Named as such because of the easy manner of installation, EZ Rocks stones are available in one square-meter panels cast in special molds which were taken from selected natural stones using a process that replicates the details of the original stone.

He added that the new EZ Rocks stone series comes in a variety of warm and classic earth hues and rich textures, aesthetically complementing and creating a balance with the environment.

The quick Fit stone profiles are thinner, smoother and lighter than their predecessors, the EZ Fit models. In addition, they sport brighter and a more contemporary design for people who want a more chic look for their homes.

Since 1997, the Makati City-based firm has been jazzing up buildings, homes and the urban landscape with world-class but reasonably-priced decorative stones.

Reyes said that EZ Rocks offers a more cost-effective solution ih the long run because they are easier to clean with soap and water, compared to paint which peels and needs occasional repainting.

“Since our stones are synthetic, they do not have pores like living rocks which accumulate moss and air-borne particles. They are noncombustible and hence, can be used in a fireplace or a kitchen,” he pointed out.

Aside from being 20 percent cheaper than competition, EZ Rocks are easier to install because of their light weight, hence cutting down labor costs by more than one-third.

Named as such because of the easiness by which it can be installed, EZ Rocks stones are cast in special molds from selected natural stones, using a process that replicates even the smallest details of the original stone.

“Every stone is created individually by using a special combination of mineral oxide pigments, Portland cement, light weight natural aggregates and other high-grade additives,” Hector Reyes, president of EZ Rocks, was quoted in statement.

He added that EZ Rocks come in a variety of warm and classic earth hues and rich textures, aesthetically complementing, as well as creating a balance with the environment.

Mr. Reyes also pointed out that decorative stones are more cost effective in the long run because they are easier to clean with soap and water using a soft brush, compared to plain wall which needs repainting at least every two years.

To avoid repetition of patterns, Mr. Reyes said they used hundreds of individual molds, most of which are imported from the United States, which are capable of making even the most intricate designs.

EZ Rocks offers eight different stone profiles or styles with over 40 color schemes, but he said that they can still make custom-made designs for the more choosy and meticulous clients.

The Look of stone

Synthetic stones offer virtually unlimited design options

The look of stone, which for many architects and builders add timelessness, variety and beauty to their projects, is also a favorite among homeowners who are convinced such motif would lend stature and convey an image of quality to their homes.

While before their choice was limited to the use of natural stones, architects and builders nowadays have another option: manufactured their synthetic stones.

Synthetic stones look like many kind of real stone. In sight, they are almost indistinguishable.

“Synthetic stones are the closest thing to natural stones in terms of look and texture since they are cast in special molds that were taken from selected natural stones using a process that replicates even the faintest detail of the original stones” explained Hector Reyes, president of EZ Rocks (895-2275), a leading manufacturer and supplier of these decorative stone products.

Much lighter

But unlike natural stones, Reyes explained that synthetic stones are much lighter, thus much easier and quicker to install, cost 25 to 35 percent cheaper, create virtually no waste, and can be applied in places real stone cannot.

“Synthetic stones are not structural (not the wall or post themselves since they are installed on structures like tiles), almost any wall can bear their weight,” he added.

EZ Rocks products are available in both flat (sold per square meter) and corners (sold per linear meter) to make installation more convenient.

Reyes said synthetic stones are available in various patterns, shades and color combinations, giving architects and builders unlimited design possibilities when working with interior and exterior walls, garden walls, fireplaces, columns, entrances, etc.

The pigments are applied during the casting process making them integrally part of the stones and are colorfast (do not fade in time). In addition, the company's unique formulation of iron oxide pigments enables Reyes to achieve different shades and color combinations.

Hundreds of molds

To avoid repetition in the pattern, Reyes said he uses hundreds of individual molds.

“It's a cumbersome process but the result is amazing,” he-said.

Although EZ Rocks already carries eight different stone profiles or styles with over 40 color palettes (which already provide their clients several designs to choose from), Reyes said he still has clients who visit his JP Rizal (near Pateros Street) showroom in Makati City and request for custom design (patterns with unique shades or color combinations), which the company can provide.

“Taste and preference varies. What may be popular nowadays may not be in the future and what is a favorite hue or color combination, say in Metro Manila, may not be in the provinces,” he explained.

What is consistent for EZ Rocks products, said Reyes, is that they all underwent a meticulous production process, aided by many technological innovations the company has perfected through the years.

“I started this company in 1997 but my experience on this line of business dates back much earlier, working in the United States for 25 years. What I learned there is that you must be very sure about what you sell and to be able to stand out from the crowd only high-quality yet reasonably priced products will do,” said Reyes.
